It was my first time traveling alone, an organized trip. He was twenty years old, he knew nothing about traveling and was very afraid of traveling alone. So I booked a tour to travel with other people and have a guide to help me adjust.

It was exactly what I needed. After that, I became interested in traveling.

Even though I'm an "expert" now, I still do tours because it's a lot of fun, it's a great way to meet people, it's an educational way to learn from an experienced guide, and they allow you to visit places that you can visit. it's good Don't go alone. They give you time to get used to your destination and, if you're new to travel, to adjust to the "travel lifestyle" itself.

In recent months we have resumed touring as part of The Nomadic Network, our social event platform.

So far we've traveled to Western Europe, Romania, Jordan and Oaxaca, Mexico! (Actually, I'll be back in Oaxaca in two weeks for our second tour.)

Today we're announcing all of our 2023 offerings (including lots of new destinations!).

TNN Tours is for people who want to travel, not just relax with other members of this community. They are for travelers who want to meet locals who can show them what it's like to live anywhere, and for travelers who want to learn from experts about the food, culture and history of the places they visit.

A TNN travel group takes a photo after exploring Jordan together.

You'll do a variety of activities, eat in locals' homes, and see hidden, secluded spots that aren't usually found on other group tours. With these tours, we aim to take you out of the tourist traps.

For example, in Oaxaca we visit Palenques (mezcal farms) run by local friends and not visited by any other group. Foodies for life take us on a culinary journey through Mexico City.

We get special permission to visit a gypsy village in Romania.

We go to the mountains in Morocco and stay with a Berber family.

In Italy and France, we dine at mystery restaurants I've discovered over the years, where the menu is made up of whatever the chef finds at the market that day.

In Costa Rica, we arrange homestays where you can practice your Spanish and have dinner with a family we know.

These itineraries are designed using our connections to give you a deeper feel of the place and an understanding of the local culture. We do not move it from place to place. All these tours are for socializing! For this reason, all our tours have a maximum of 15 people, as we believe that small groups make for better friendships and a better experience.

***

Our tours will show you a more "nomadic" way to see places. We stick to local transportation, non-touristy bars and restaurants I've come across over the years, and focus on people and experiences rather than sights. Anyone can take you to David's, but we want to take you there with an art historian and then go to the restaurants of friends I know and places I love.

We want you to leave with a sense of space, not images of buildings in the background.

Also, most of the visits will be me or a team member. At the end of the day, these tours are for the community, so we want to make sure we meet everyone and spend time traveling together (we also don't want to miss out on these amazing routes).

I have invested more than fifteen years of experience in creating these routes. It was everything I wanted to have when I started traveling. Whether you're new to travel or a travel veteran, I hope you'll join us!

We've sold out of all our tours, so be sure to sign up before they sell out!

Frequently asked questions

While each tour has its own FAQ, here are some common questions:

What is your policy regarding COVID-19?
This tour is currently open to all travelers. We will monitor any new policies closely and comply with any new restrictions or requirements as necessary. If the rules change, we'll let you know. See each visit page for more information.

What about the COVID test?
If a COVID test is required, such as an entry or exit request, we will help you find testing sites, although you are responsible for ordering the COVID test and your own tests.

What is the age limit for this tour?
Our tours are attended by people aged 22-75. They really run the gambit. Previously, the average touring age was about 40 years old. Age diversity has never hindered group dynamics since we discovered that age is just a number!

All our tours include several walking tours of 2-3 hours each. Some tours have more difficult itineraries. See each visit page for more information.

Tell us about your guides.
Our experienced guides are fully licensed. They will be responsible for making sure the trip runs smoothly, taking care of all local logistics and handling any contingencies that may arise. Our tour leaders are available at any time, every day of the trip, to provide additional information, organize spontaneous activities, join the group for non-included activities and meals and make the trip as memorable, fun and informative as possible. During the trip we will also use other guides for some of our day trips.

Will I have time for myself?
Of course! We hate tours booked for every minute of the day. While we're busy, you'll have plenty of time to explore on your own. Travel is about adventure and discovery, so we emphasize that in our tours. We want you to see what interests you the most.

What will I do in my designated "free time"?
Our guides will be on hand to give you suggestions on what to do and where to get around. If you want to go it alone, we understand. We want you to explore and get out of your comfort zone! Our guides are here to help you, and once you join the tour, you'll get a list of possible activities that you can do on your own.

How many seats can I buy at once?
Tour bookings are limited to a maximum of two per person so everyone can travel.

What rooms do we live in?
We will stay in hotels with 2 or more stars.

No, you will be responsible for the return ticket for the tour.

Yes, all guests must have travel insurance for the duration of their trip. We will ask you for proof before departure. If you don't have it, you won't be able to continue your journey.

Is there an age limit?
You must be at least 18 years old.

Do I need to fill out permission forms?
Yes, you will need to complete and sign a liability waiver releasing us from any liability related to the tour.

If you need a visa to enter any of these destinations, you must obtain one in advance at your own expense. We do not offer any assistance in this area.

Book a trip: logistical tips and recommendations

book a flight
Find cheap flights with Skyscanner. This is my favorite search engine because it searches websites and airlines worldwide, so you always know that no stone has been left unturned.

Book accommodation
You can book a hostel at Hostelworld. If you want to stay outside of a hostel, use Booking.com as they always offer the lowest prices for B&Bs and hotels.

Don't forget travel insurance
Travel insurance will protect you against illness, injury, theft and cancellation. This is complete protection in case something goes wrong. I've had to use it a few times in the past, I never go on a trip without it. Here are my favorite companies that offer the best service and value:

  • SafetyWing (best for everyone)
  • Insure my trip (for over 70s)
  • Medjet (for additional evacuation)

Ready to book your trip?
Visit my resources page for the best companies to use while traveling. I am listing all the ones I used during the trip. They are best in class and you can't go wrong using them while traveling.
