With its picturesque canals, legendary gondolas, and winding streets, Venice is an incredibly charming and beautiful city popular with honeymooners, tourists, and travelers.
Unfortunately, its romantic beauty also makes it one of the most visited places in the world, which also makes it quite pricey. Everyone loves to spend time exploring Renaissance palaces and historic squares, eating endless amounts of ice cream, pizza and pasta.
The popularity of the floating city can make it difficult to visit the city on a budget, but fortunately, the number of affordable hostels for travelers and travelers is increasing. Although they won't make Venice a budget destination, they can help keep your budget the same while exploring this popular Italian destination.
In this post, I will share the best hostels in Venice to help you facilitate your trip. But before we get into that, there are several things to consider when choosing where to live. After more than a decade of traveling the world, I've learned what makes a great hostel.
Four main factors:
- Location - Venice is fairly spread out between the mainland and many islands, which means it can take some time to get around. Choose a location near the places you want to see and/or the nightlife you want to experience. All residences listed here are located in the center.
- price . In Venice you get what you pay for, so if you go to a really cheap hostel you will probably find it cramped and not very good service.
- comfort . Most hostels offer free Wi-Fi and some include free breakfast, but if you want more, find the one that best suits your needs.
- Staff - All the hostels listed here have exceptional staff! They are very friendly and knowledgeable. Even if you're not staying at any of the places listed below, check the reviews to make sure you're in a place where the staff is friendly and helpful. They can create or destroy a dwelling!
To help you plan your trip, here is a list of the best hostels in Venice. All offer a welcoming retreat and a welcoming and friendly place to mingle with fellow travellers while staying on a budget.
If you don't want to read the entire list, here are the main ones in each category:

1. Gun generator
Generator's Venice European Hostel is located on the island of Giudecca, just one vaporetto taxi stop from the famous Piazza San Marco. It was originally a granary, but the building has been renovated in a country style with terracotta floors, exposed brick and even a stone chandelier and fireplace in the common room. They have 3 to 16 bed dorms (and female-only dorms) and private rooms. In the dormitory rooms, each bed has its own reading lamp, socket, and cupboard (although a prepaid one).
One of the best features of the place is the hotel's café along the canal terrace, overlooking the canal all the way to Venice's Centro Storico (the historic centre). The perfect place to start the day or unwind after a long day of exploring, they offer happy hour daily from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
The only downside is that there is no kitchen or fridge if you want to cook your own food or store groceries.
And despite having a few common spaces, Generator Venice feels more like a hotel than a motel (it's not even a super social inn, as there are no organized events).

- It is located near the main island
- Bar/outdoor terrace with happy hour in the evening
- Elegant hotel atmosphere

2. Go to Venice
This award-winning hotel is very social and is the best party hostel in Venice, with weekend evening activities like karaoke, beer pong, and DJ sets. Although it is on the mainland, it is easy to get to the historic center as it is only a short walk from the main train station. There are separate rooms and dormitories (including for women). The beds in the dormitories are equipped with a curtain, electrical outlet, wardrobe and reading lamp. The mattress is very comfortable, although the pressure in the shower leaves much to be desired.
It has a 24-hour front desk, bar/club, and plenty of common areas, including a private courtyard with a city garden, and a common work area with Macs in case you don't have a computer with you. . This is an interesting and unusual feature if you work remotely and want to use a computer, or if you don't travel with your laptop and want to use something other than your phone. There is also a guest kitchen (small) and laundry facilities on site.
Guests also get a 10% discount, a free welcome drink and a free city map if you are a member of HostelPass.

3. S. Foska . Hostel
Arguably the most central hostel in Venice, the Ostello S. Fosca is within walking distance of all the city's main attractions, but also tucked away on a quiet canal so you can get a good night's rest. Although there is not much of a social atmosphere here, the staff are very friendly and ready to help with anything you need.
The location and accessibility are two of the main reasons to stay here, as the dorms are fairly basic with noisy (but clean) metal beds. Also, some rooms are only air conditioned so if you stay here during the warmer months it can get quite claustrophobic.
However, this hotel is great if you are looking for a quiet and central stay. It is located in a beautiful historical building with a large fenced yard and patio where you can relax on nice days. It also has a fully equipped kitchen and female dorms, and you can leave your bags here for free until the end of the day after you check out.
Please note that there is a €15 fee for check-in after 20:00, if you arrive after 10:00, you will be out of luck. If you know you will be arriving late, it is better to choose another hotel.

It is located next to the main train station, allowing easy access to the historic center of Venice.
As the building is an entire block away, there are plenty of amenities, including a 24-hour front desk, and several common areas, including a co-working space, children's play area, and an open kitchen. . You can have breakfast for 8.90 euros. If you are traveling to Italy there is also parking available and if you are traveling with a pet you can take it with you (if you have a private room). This is a good option if you are looking for more privacy than a traditional guest house and are willing to pay more.
On site there is a restaurant-bar with an outside terrace right next to the canal, a 24-hour reception, a large enclosed courtyard, a common guest kitchen (plus kitchens in apartment-type rooms), a laundry and a kitchen. maid.
