Do you remember last month when we announced our new travel magazine? Well finally! This new magazine has been in production since March and after several months of fine-tuning the design and studying the quality of the paper and the entire printing process, in June we sent our "manuscript" to be printed.

"Okay, great," they said, "you're coming in October."

“Can I get a proof before I go to press? " I asked.

They said no.

With all the problems with printer consumables and most of them moving production from China to the US, they just didn't have the ability to make "one-off parts". The only thing I could think of was a design that used plain paper instead of the paper we used for the final copy.

When two very, very good friends of mine called this company and said they had never had a quality problem, I said, “Okay, print it out. I'm going to Europe and we're really looking forward to launching this product for the holidays!

Last week I finally got my hands on the finished magazine.

The quality of the paper is excellent, the cover is perfect, the printing is perfect. Everything is perfect except for one thing.

Our idea was to create a Moleskine style magazine with travel tips. There should be a page for each day of the year. There are 365 pages and quotes.

I have that. At over 180 pages (365 days front and back), I thought it would be slimmer than Moleskins' 240 pages.

Also, Moleskins is 240 pages long and only 120 sheets thick. I don't understand why it calculated correctly for my diary but not for the Moleskine! So our magazine is about 200 pages thick. That means it looks like this:

Stand next to each other against the Moleskine Travel

"Wow! That's... huge," I thought to myself. We achieved what we set out to say. This is a magazine with tips for every day of the year. It still looks great and has the high quality we want. It is thicker than expected.

That's why we call it our "big" special edition, perfect for long-distance travelers, people studying or living abroad, or anyone who wants to keep a journal in one place for a year!

Everything you need is here:

  • You can apply the tips for travel or everyday life at home.
  • You can be inspired by quotes.
  • You can use it as a reminder that sometimes things don't go as planned, but all you can do is make the best of the situation.

As you can see below, we have kept the agenda as simple and organized as possible. This will keep you organized while you get into the habit of journaling (a good habit at home and on the go). The inside of the registry looks like this:

Inside of the magazine "Remember my travels".
Inside of the magazine "Remember my travels".
Inside of the magazine "Remember my travels".

Our thinnest ("normal") magazine will appear in the spring. But until then we have this wonderful product that will continue to make a great journal or gift for travelers and expats.

We are selling this "giant" magazine at cost ($15 plus shipping) through November 4 to reduce our inventory (7,000 copies take up a lot of space!).

You can get it here through our website. Use code JUMBO.

One of my best memories of my first trips is my travel journal. Fixing my thoughts and feelings while traveling allowed me to relive those trips over and over again for years to come. I don't recommend keeping a journal while traveling enough.

So be sure to shop this collection! Especially those who live abroad or go on longer trips, also keep their diaries with postcards, train tickets, etc.

Book your trip: logistics tips and tricks

book your flight
Find cheap flights with Skyscanner. This is my favorite search engine because it searches websites and airlines all over the world so you always know that no stone is left unturned.

book your stay
You can book your hostel on Hostelworld. If you want to stay somewhere other than a hostel, use Booking.com as they always offer the lowest prices for guest houses and hotels.

Don't forget travel insurance
Travel insurance protects you against illness, injury, theft, and cancellations. This is complete protection in case something goes wrong. Having had to use it several times in the past, I never go on a trip without it. These are my favorite companies that offer the best service and the best value for money:

  • SafetyWing (the best for everyone)
  • Insure my trip (for people over 70 years old)
  • Medjet (for additional evacuation)

Are you ready to book your trip?
Check out my resource page for the best companies to use while traveling. I list all the ones I used during the trip. They are the best in their class and you can't go wrong with them on the road.
